Hi and welcome to my not so standard blog!
If you have found this, you might already know that I am Marielle! I am a dutch concert and festival photographer, currently getting ready to move to Sweden. I have been a professional photographer since 2018 but have been photographing concerts since 2016.
While it is not the “oh I have over 20 years of experience!” opening to this blog, I have been studying photography, photographer lives and social media that comes with photography ever since I have started. So I have read a lot, watched a lot of Youtube video’s and spoken to a lot of more knowledgeable people.
I have the annoying or good habit of wanting to be better. Better than myself the shoot before. Better in editing than the day before. Better or just as good as other photographers I look up too. So I take note to everything any photographer I follow says, writes or does. Over these years with these habits, I have found many unwritten rules, tips and tricks and thoughts on photography.
There were many things I came across, and thought… “If I had known that when I just got started…” and honestly, it was a little upsetting. I was hearing things like, break the rules of compositions, you can increase your ISO without creating more noise, don’t start if you want to get rich or save money, your back will be killing you after a 4-day festival, contrast is the key, etc, etc, etc.
So while I am pretty sure the world wide web, your local camera store, your friends, or even your colleague can tell you all about which brand you should buy and which model and lenses are the best, I’m here to tell you about the things I have learned along the way. The things I wish I had figured out way sooner and things that I wished people would have warned me for.
So hop on up this train and leave a like if you have enjoyed my stories.
